Sergio passed away peacefully at home among loved ones on Thursday May 18, 2017 at the age of 69. He will be forever missed by his loving and dedicated wife of 46 years, Giovanna. Cherished by his dear children, Pina (Terry) and Ernest (Marisa). Proud Nonno to Alessia, and triplets, Annalisa, Sergio and Giorgio. Always remembered by his sister, Angela (Antonio predeceased), by his brother, John (Fanny), brother-in-law, Aldo (Celsa), brother-in-law, Raffaele and special zio to his nieces and nephews. A true gentleman, he will be treasured in the hearts of his family, relatives, and countless friends who revered his smile, warmth, humour and good nature. He was a pioneer in the ceramic tile industry in Canada, former long-serving President of the Silvi Social Club, avid fan of the Juventus FC soccer team, and enamoured with his seaside birth place, Silvi Paese, Abruzzo, Italy to which he travelled every year.
Visitations will take place at the Vescio Funeral Home Woodbridge Chapel (8101 Weston Rd. 905-850-3332) on Monday May 22, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church (300 Ansley Grove Rd., north of Chancellor Dr.). Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery (on Hwy 27, south of Hwy 7). In honour of his love for children, if so desired, donations in memory of Sergio may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children.
