Life Story for Joseph Nucara

God called Joseph peacefully at his home in Toronto on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in his 90th year. He was born in Santo Stefano d’Aspromente, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Rosa (Bagnato) of 53 years and cherished forever by his dear children Mimma (Stefano Morabito); Joseph (Zsuzsanna); Angela; and Basilio (Iolanda). Proud grandfather of Antonella, Rosa Angela, and Stefania Morabito; Rosemary, Josephine, Zsofia, Paolina, and Joseph Nucara. Dear brother of Antonietta Zimbalatti (husband Joseph deceased) and Francesco Nucara (wife Mimma). He will be held dear in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Carmela (Schiavone), birth mother Domenica (Nucara), brothers Stefano and Umberto, and sister Theresa Suraci (husband Domenico deceased). Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1951 and worked in North Bay as a bridge carpenter with CP Railway and later as a machine operator with Johns Manville. He was a dedicated, kind and loving father and husband, a true gentlemen who enjoyed spending time with friends and family, sharing stories and playing cards. Visitations will take place at Vescio Funeral Home (2080 Dufferin St, Toronto) on Wednesday, June 29 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30 at 11:30am at St. Norbert’s Roman Catholic Church (100 Regent Rd, Toronto). Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery Padre Pio Mausoleum (5830 Bathurst St, Toronto). Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to St. Norbert’s Church or to the Humber River Hospital Foundation.
